The Climb, The Give and How You Can Help (Without Opening your Wallet)

I don’t have any interest in going to space and I’m not a mountain climber. There isn’t one ounce of me that feels a burning desire to rope myself to other human beings, attach spikes to my feet and climb to the roof of the sky.

But I understand the importance of a journey. I’m married to an adrenaline junkie, a man who loves adventure, but it is more than that. It’s about wanting to experience something that tests your limits, to have a mission and a goal. That same driving force compels our all-volunteer military force to serve their country, to go and do whatever is asked of them.

OK STOP. In case you don’t want to read any further, you can impact a veteran RIGHT NOW without opening your wallet!  Post this hashtag #Give2Veterans on social media and you will automatically earn $1.00 for the Bob Woodruff Foundation to help a veteran and their family.  You don’t even need to touch your change purse, thanks to the generosity of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation.

Why should you care?  Why is it important to take the 2 seconds needed to post #give2veterans? Here’s why:

So many of our young veterans do not feel that their service is over when they take the uniform off. Just over a week ago, 7,500 miles away in Tanzania, Kionte Storey embarked upon a quest to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with a prosthetic leg. Kionte is a Marine veteran who knows the pains of war. Like so many of the young vets Bob and I have met over the years, Kionte wanted to use his journey to give back to fellow veterans, despite his injuries.

The Kionte’s of the world have already done more for us than necessary. Yet there he was, scaling the highest peak in Africa on a prosthetic leg.

Kionte and Jake make their way up Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness for #Give2Veterans

He was joined by Jake Rath, of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, which not only supported the climb, but offered a simple challenge that everyone can take advantage of. You can be part of the journey and here’s how:

Now through September 30, just post #Give2Veterans and @Stand4Heroes on social media (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) and our foundation will earn $1 for every post (up to $500K).

And while we’re not asking you to open your wallets, Kionte and Jake have created a fundraising page for those inspired to do more.

I hope you will all join me in helping Kionte and Jake #Give2Veterans by simply clicking this link or copying/pasting one of these simple posts. Or make one of your own. And thank you.

For every post including #Give2Veterans, @Stand4Heroes will earn $1.00 to help injured veterans and their families. RT to support!

Help me #Give2Veterans by sharing this post & @CohenGive will donate $1.00 to @Stand4Heroes!

Help @Stand4Heroes raise $500K to support our vets! One post or RT with #Give2Veterans = $1.00 donated from @CohenGive.
